PORE PRESSURE FRACTURE GRADIENT STUDIES (PPFG)

AIPC provides field staff with extensive experience and capability to deliver the entire project from pre-drill through to the final report. Having the PPFG expert available through the lifecycle of the service delivers greater confidence to the operator through:

  • Thorough project knowledge
  • Increased certainty in decision making
  • In depth knowledge of the pressure environment
  • A focus on mitigating wellsite operational risk and minimising NPT
AIPC INTRODUCES ITS PPFG SERVICE PROVIDING
  • Pre-drill evaluation of offset data to produce a pre-drill PPFG model
  • Realtime monitoring of the pore pressure regime (remote or onsite)
  • Comparison of predrill model with actual results, producing an updated model for future use in the region

THE PPFG SERVICE COMPRISES THREE MAJOR COMPONENTS:
  • Pre-drill offset well and seismic data analysis
  • Realtime pore pressure monitoring
  • Comprehensive, end of service, comparative modelling and reporting

PRE-DRILL OFFSET WELL & SEISMIC DATA ANALYSIS

AIPC utilises experienced specialist PPFG engineers to interpret data utilising LAS files, mud logs, well completion reports and other operational data such as drilling reports, leak off test results and formation pressures.

The pre-well PPFG service delivers valuable PPFG data that assists in establishing a robust well design, appropriate casing point selection and determining drilling fluid density. These services consistently add value to drilling operational efficiency.

REALTIME PORE PRESSURE MONITORING

Wellsite based pore pressure engineering services performed by experienced Pore Pressure Engineers with extensive wellsite experience, providing identification and commentary on transition zones, overpressure zones, magnitude of pore pressure, magnitude of fracture gradients, potential of pressure reversals and normally pressured intervals.

COMPARATIVE PRE-DRILL / POST-DRILL MODELLING

The same PPFG expert utilises the pre-drill analysis and model, updates this with data acquired during real-time monitoring (collated post-drill) and provides an updated comparative model for future use in the basin or region.

DELIVERABLES

Through every stage of the service (pre-drill, wellsite monitoring, post-drill analysis) the Operator is provided with comprehensive reports for pre-drill and post-drill analysis, and regular daily updates during real time monitoring along with recommended communications protocol during drilling operations.

Included with the pre-drill pore pressure model and report, AIPC provides a detailed outline of operational protocols, workflow and contingencies which will form the basis of communications and decision making on a daily basis during the real-time monitoring stages of AIPCs service.

BENEFITS
  • Increases awareness of the pore pressure environment
  • Assists in optimising drilling parameters
  • Minimises non-productive time
  • Facilitates the delivery of well objectives

EXPERIENCE

AIPC has provided PPFG services in many petroleum basins throughout the world, these include:

  • Australia: Browse, Bonaparte, Carnarvon, Otway, Perth, Bass
  • PNG: Offshore/onshore PNG Foreland, PNG Fold Belt
  • Indonesia: Sumatra, Java, Sulawesi, West Papua, Kalimantan, Aceh
  • Malaysia: Sarawak, Sabah
  • China: Tarim, South China Sea
  • New Zealand, Trinidad, Angola, Sudan, Ireland, Nigeria, Peru.
